Chronotopes of Consciousness
From the encounter between science, art, and metaphysics arises this singular proposal presented by the young Mexican artist Sebastián Estivill at Orfila Gallery. "Chronotopes of Consciousness", as the exhibition is titled, brings together a group of oil paintings—mostly large-scale, in keeping with his country’s muralist tradition—through which he seeks to immerse the viewer in a symbolic perception of what he calls Fluxum Temporis: the symbiosis of time and energy; a constellation of entropic pathways projected from the past and from memory, through the present, toward the future, by way of imagination.

The infinity of books proposes exactly that: a window into the imagination and knowledge awakened in anyone who surrenders to reading. Built from books destined for destruction, the piece transforms each page into the matter of an expanding universe — layers of time, energy, and meaning that overlap and evolve into something new.

The work speaks directly to the concept of Fluxum Temporis that defines Estivill’s practice: the idea that time is not linear but entropic, and that every book read becomes a path that never returns the same. What the viewer encounters here is not the end of a book, but the precise point where reading becomes something without limits.”
